IMPORTANT

INFORMATION

  • Where do your minis come from?
Majority of our miniatures are pulled from auctions and kill pens from different cities in Texas and Oklahoma with most of them being bailed from the Stroud Kill Pen in Oklahoma. We do occasionally get minis that owners have relinquished and need help rehoming.
  • Are you a 501(c)(3) and can I write off my donations?
Yes! We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Please email us to receive information on how to make your donations tax deductible.
  • What kind of vetting/medical attention do the minis receive?
All our minis that come from out-of-state undergo a minimum of a 30 day quarantine in their origination state and a secondary two week quarantine upon arriving in California. They are all dewormed and vaccinated with the 5-way core vaccine upon arrival. We do our best to make sure each mini has a clean bill of health before they are available to go home to their new owners. However, since they are coming from unknown backgrounds, we cannot guarantee health history of any horse. Additional vaccinations can be arranged before each mini gets adopted.
  • How much is the adoption fee?
Our adoption fees range from $500-$1,000 with majority of the minis being priced at $750. This helps us cover a portion of all the bills we incur from bailing the minis from kill pens, quarantine, hauling to CA, and any additional vet/farrier bills.
  • Can I reserve a mini?
All our minis are available to be "reserved" with a $300 refundable deposit. We simply ask that you give us a definite answer within 10 days of placing your mini on hold.
  • Are any of the minis rideable?
Each mini is adopted out on a "ride" or "no ride" contract depending on their size. We have some that are suitable as leadline ponies, but majority are too small to be ridden.
  • Where are the minis located?
Our main barn is located in Encinitas, CA. We are lucky to have several volunteer fosters that house the minis. If you are interested in a specific mini, please call or email and we will let you know what facility it is at.
  • Do you accept donations
Yes! We accept donations to our PayPal as well as physical items. We have an Amazon wishlist and can always use new halters, leadropes, treats and supplements.
  • Can I volunteer?
Yes! We allow volunteers at our main barn in Encinitas 6 days a week. Please email us at info@littlehoovesrescue.com.
